Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1992, Lovelle Seo immigrated to Cupertino, California at the age of ten, bringing with her a rich cultural heritage that would later influence her artistic journey. Her earliest artistic influences came from her father, a national treasure artist renowned for his Korean Traditional paintings. This foundation in traditional Asian techniques, combined with her Western education at the prestigious ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena—where she earned both her B.F.A. and later studied her MDes in Brand Design & Strategy—has enabled her to create a distinctive artistic language that bridges East and West.
Seo's work unfolds in two distinct yet interconnected series. Her portraits explore the nuances of identity, while her abstract compositions translate music into visual form through her unique gift of synesthesia. Drawing inspiration from impressionism and her profound connection to nature, she creates dreamlike landscapes that blur the boundary between reality and imagination. By merging traditional Asian painting techniques with contemporary Western approaches, her work transcends cultural boundaries to create ethereal worlds where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary.
